Savarkar Echoes from A Forgotten Past 1883-1924 – by Vikram Sampath is the first volume of a two-part biography that explores the life and philosophy of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar from his birth to his release from the Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands. This volume covers the early, revolutionary phase of Savarkar’s life, from his youth in Maharashtra to his time as a law student in London, where he established a vast network of revolutionaries. The book details his subsequent arrest, unfair trial for sedition, and over a decade of brutal imprisonment and torture at the Cellular Jail (Kalapani).
