That long Silence -That Long Silence tells the story of Jaya, an educated Indian woman who is forced to confront her life choices and identity when her husband, Mohan, faces allegations of business malpractice and the family must move to a smaller flat in a different part of Bombay. This disruption in her seemingly stable, upper-middle-class life forces her into a period of introspection and retrospection about her seventeen-year marriage, her role as a wife and mother, and her suppressed personal aspirations, including her failure as a writer.
