Mac Flecknoe

Mac Flecknoe – The narrative presents the aging monarch of dullness, Flecknoe (a real, but minor, poet), who must choose a successor and ultimately crowns Shadwell as the worthiest heir to his “throne of dullness”. It is a mock-heroic poem, which uses the elevated style of epic poetry to satirize a trivial subject, creating a comic effect.
