Mother of 1084 – The novel, originally titled Hajar Churashir Maa (No. 1084’s Mother) in Bengali, is set against the backdrop of the Naxalite movement in West Bengal during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It explores the emotional and psychological journey of a mother (Sujata) after her son, a Naxalite, is brutally killed by the state and his corpse is assigned the number 1084 in the morgue.
