The Playboy of The Western World

The Playboy of The Western World – Christy Mahon, a “meek and woebegone” stranger, arrives at a pub in County Mayo. He claims he is on the run after killing his father with a “loy” (a traditional spade) during a fight. Christy’s father, Old Mahon, appears at the pub very much alive, having only been wounded. The “heroic” image Christy built begins to crumble as the truth of his failed attempt at patricide is revealed.
