Description

A Midsummer Night’s Dream  – Hermia loves Lysander, but her father Egeus demands she marry Demetrius, who used to love Helena. Facing a harsh Athenian law, Hermia and Lysander flee into the forest. Helena, hoping to win back Demetrius’s favor, tells him of their plan, and he follows Hermia, with Helena following him. A group of Athenian craftsmen (the “mechanicals”) is also in the forest, rehearsing a play (Pyramus and Thisbe) to perform at the Duke’s wedding. Puck encounters them and transforms the head of their lead actor, Nick Bottom, into that of a donkey. Titania, waking under the love potion’s influence, immediately falls in love with the donkey-headed Bottom and dotes on him.
