Hamlet

Hamlet – is William Shakespeare’s longest play and is widely considered one of the most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language. Set in Elsinore, Denmark, the drama follows Prince Hamlet’s internal and external struggle to avenge his father’s murder at the hands of his uncle, Claudius, who has usurped the throne and married Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude.  In a climactic fencing match, Claudius and Laertes plot to kill Hamlet with a poisoned blade and wine. The scheme backfires: Gertrude unknowingly drinks the poison; both Laertes and Hamlet are wounded by the toxic sword; and Hamlet kills Claudius before dying himself.
