The Adventures of Tom Sawyer  – To avoid working on a Saturday, Tom cleverly convinces other local boys that whitewashing a fence is a rare privilege, tricking them into doing the work for him and paying him with small “treasures”. Burdened by the secret of the murder and a broken “engagement” with Becky Thatcher, Tom runs away with Huck and Joe Harper to Jackson’s Island. The town eventually presumes they have drowned, only for the boys to dramatically reappear at their own funeral service.
