The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea – is a 1952 novella by American author Ernest Hemingway, written in Cuba in 1951. It was the last major work of fiction published during his lifetime and remains one of his most celebrated masterpieces, playing a significant role in his 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature. The story follows Santiago, an aging, experienced Cuban fisherman who has gone 84 days without catching a fish. Determined to break his streak of bad luck, he sails far out into the Gulf Stream, where he hooks a giant marlin.
