Chitra

Chitra – is the princess of Manipur. Raised as a boy because her father lacked a male heir, she is a skilled warrior and archer who lacks traditional “feminine” charms. While hunting, Chitra encounters the hero Arjuna, who is living as a hermit in the forest. She falls deeply in love, but Arjuna rejects her, blinded by her plain, masculine appearance and bound by his vow of celibacy. Chitra soon becomes miserable. She realizes Arjuna loves the “mask” provided by the gods, not her true self. She views her borrowed beauty as a rival that steals the love meant for the real Chitra.
