A Passage to India  – The novel is set in the fictional town of Chandrapore during the British Raj in the 1920s and revolves around the interactions between the British community and the Indian populace. wo Englishwomen, the elderly Mrs. Moore and the younger Adela Quested, arrive in India. They express a desire to see the “real India” and, unlike most of the British elite, socialise with Indian locals. They befriend Dr. Aziz, a charming Muslim physician, and Cyril Fielding, an open-minded British college principal.
