A Tale of two Cities

A Tale of Two Cities – The story begins in 1775 with the release of Dr. Alexandre Manette after 18 years of unjust imprisonment in the Bastille. He is reunited with his daughter, Lucie, and they move to London. Their lives become intertwined with two men who resemble each other: Charles Darnay, a French aristocrat who renounced his title, and Sydney Carton, a cynical, alcoholic English barrister. As the Revolution erupts, the characters are drawn back to Paris, leading to a climax involving imprisonment, the Reign of Terror, and an ultimate act of sacrifice.
