Arrow of God

Arrow of God  – Arrow of God is the third novel in Achebe’s African Trilogy, set in the village of Umuaro in colonial Nigeria during the 1920s. The story centers on Ezeulu, the proud and headstrong chief priest of the deity Ulu, and the tragic consequences of his conflicts with both internal rivals and the British colonial administration.The British District Officer, Captain T.K. Winterbottom, attempts to impose indirect rule and appoint local leaders as “warrant chiefs”. Ezeulu refuses the offer, leading to his imprisonment for two months. This act undermines his authority and destabilizes the community’s traditional power structure.
