Dharmashree

Dharmashree – Is a 1961 Kannada novel by S.L. Bhyrappa that explores the complex cultural and spiritual conflicts of a man who converts to Christianity for love. The novel follows the journey of Satyanarayana, a devout believer in Sanathana Dharma, who falls in love with a Christian girl named Lily. To marry her, he converts to Christianity and changes his name to Xavier Satyadasa. This decision, however, triggers a profound inner conflict as he struggles to reconcile his actions with his deeply rooted cultural identity and ancestral values.
