Isabella or The Pot of Basil  – Isabella falls deeply in love with Lorenzo, a humble clerk working for her two merchant brothers. Because the brothers intended to marry her to a high-ranking noble to increase their wealth, they view Lorenzo as an unsuitable match. Upon discovering the secret relationship, the brothers lure Lorenzo into the forest, murder him, and bury his body. They tell Isabella that Lorenzo has simply traveled abroad on urgent business.
