Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar – is a historical tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1599. Set in 44 BC, the play dramatizes the real-world conspiracy against the Roman dictator, his assassination on the Ides of March, and the ensuing civil war. The play opens with Caesar’s triumphant return to Rome. Cassius, fearing Caesar’s growing power, manipulates the noble Marcus Brutus into joining a plot to assassinate him, arguing it is necessary to save the Roman Republic.
