Mother

Mother – The story begins with Pelageya Nilovna, a woman living a life of fear and poverty in a factory suburb. She is the widow of a brutal, alcoholic worker who physically abused her for years. Initially motivated only by maternal love and fear for her son’s safety, Nilovna begins helping the revolutionaries. She smuggles leaflets into the factory, disguised as a food vendor, to spread the movement’s message.
