Son of Shiva – by Preetha Rajah Kannan is a mythological fiction book that narrates the epic tales and battles of Kartikeya, the warrior-god and son of Shiva. The book was first published in 2017 by Jaico Publishing House. Son of Shiva focuses on the legend of Kartikeya (also known as Murugan, Skanda, or Subrahmanya), the commander-in-chief of the divine army. The narrative describes the monumental conflict between the forces of good (devas) and evil (asuras). The central antagonist is the Asura king Surapadma, who, after gaining immense power, brings chaos to the realms. Kartikeya is born to restore righteousness and leads the gods in a fierce battle against Surapadma, utilizing his divine spear (vel) and discus.
