Strife

Strife – is a three-act social realist play that explores the bitter conflict between capital and labor during a prolonged strike at the fictional Trenartha Tin Plate Works on the borders of England and Wales.  The play centers on the clash of two unyielding, extremist individuals: John Anthony, the 76-year-old chairman of the company board, and David Roberts, the passionate leader of the striking workers’ committee. The strike has been ongoing for five months, causing immense suffering and starvation among the workers’ families while the company faces potential ruin.
