Talkative Man

Talkative Man – is a 1986 novella by R.K. Narayan, set in the fictional South Indian town of Malgudi, that explores themes of identity, deception, and the absurdities of small-town life through the eyes of its loquacious narrator. A man in a blue suit arrives in Malgudi claiming to be a UN specialist on global population problems from “Timbuctoo” and takes up residence in the railway station waiting room for weeks, much to the station master’s dismay. The Talkative Man, intrigued by this eccentric figure, helps him find accommodation at his own home on Kabir Street.
