The Hungry Tide

The Hungry Tide – The novel’s plot unfolds through the intertwined journeys of its main characters in the unique and perilous environment of the Sundarbans, a vast mangrove delta in the Bay of Bengal. An Indian-American cetologist (marine biologist) who arrives in the Sundarbans to conduct research on rare Irrawaddy dolphins. Her scientific and Western perspective on nature clashes with, and is ultimately informed by, local knowledge and traditions.
