The Secret Agent

The Secret Agent – Adolf Verloc is a lazy shopkeeper who secretly works as a double agent for an unnamed foreign embassy (implied to be Russia). Under pressure from his superior, Mr. Vladimir, to prove his worth, Verloc is ordered to instigate a terrorist act—bombing the Greenwich Observatory—to provoke the British government into a crackdown on anarchist refugees.
