Three Men in a Boat

Three Men in a Boat – Three friends—Jerome (the narrator, J.), George, and Harris—spend an evening discussing their various “ailments”. Convinced they are suffering from overwork and “liver disorder,” they decide a rowing trip from Kingston to Oxford and back is the only cure. After two weeks of battling unreliable weather, culinary disasters, and their own laziness, the group abandons the boat in the rain at Pangbourne. They return to London by train to enjoy a luxurious dinner at a French restaurant, declaring the trip a success.
